Navin Sam Regi is multi disciplinary artist pursuing immersive stories through collaborative processes.
Documentary media storytelling is a genuine way to tell real stories that make an impact. It has the power to create empathy and understanding, as well as bring about social change. Sam is keen on harnessing collaborative ideas to generate narratives for his photography and audio storytelling commissions. The process instigates meaningful discourses and inspires content that can impact social change.
Sam's current work is a long-term partnership with Hummingbird House. It documents the complexity of living grief. The project, called My Little Sunshine, commenced with an interactive exhibition endeavouring to capture the non-linear tangle of grief.
Sam is working on Talking Stories which is focused in capturing life stories and legacies for people and organisations. Through portraits and audio recordings, Talking Stories is able to memorialize a family's legacy for generations to come.
Sam has won few accolades and grants, most notable are from Arts Queensland and Meta-The Walkley Foundation. He was also part of a team that won the 2016 Queensland multicultural reporting award of the year.
